Healthy juices and Gluten- free waffles

Ever since Santa surprised me with a waffle maker I had dreamed of, that’s how our breakfast has looked like once or twice a week.

I found many recipes for waffles but since I am allergic to gluten and my flour is very different to regular wheat flour, none of those recipes worked for me. Waffles were either to strong and dry or to cranchy. But after few trials, I’m excited to share with you our recipe for gluten-free waffles.

250 g gluten-free self-raising flour (It’s very important to use SELF-RAISING flour, which contains soda bicarbonate and xantham gum, as waffles don’t come out half as nice with plain flour.)

0.5 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

2 eggs

75 g sugar

100 g butter, melted and cooled

300 ml milk

In two seperate bowls mix together dry ingredients and wet ingredients. Add wet ingredients to dry and voila!

I can’t tell you how many waffles you can make with this recipe as I never counted them but it’s just enough for four of us.

We usualy have them with cream and chocolate sauce but for a healthier option you could try natural youghurt and fruit.

250g samorosnacej bezglutenowej maki (Nie jestem pewna czy w Polsce istnieje cos takiego. To maka z dodatkiem sody i gumy xantham. Niestety na zwyklej bezglutenowej mace gofry nie wychodza w polowie takie fajne.)

0.5 lyzcz proszku do pieczenia

1 lyzcz soli

2 jaja

75g cukru

100g masla, stopionego i ostudzonego

300ml mleka

W osobnych miskach mieszamy mokre i suche skladniki. Dodajemy mokre do suchych i voila!

Nie jestem pewna ile gofrow dokladnie wychodzi z tej porcji ale w zupelnosci wystarcza dla naszej czworki.

Zwykle serwujemy je z bita smietana i sosem czekoladowym ale w zdrowszej opcji mozna je serwowac z naturalnym jogurtem i owocami.

 

For a balanced diet, we neutralize all that sugar intake by drinking healthy homemade juices nearly every day. We had talked about juicer for a while and then there were such big sales in January on them that we couldn’t have missed such opportunity. So now even my fussy Anabel chooses her own fruit to make juices of every now and then. So if you don’t have a juicer yet, realy consider buying one. No bottled or boxed juice can compare to one made at home from fresh, clean products.

While I was doing my research on homemade juices, I came upon an article about how to wash veg and fruit of pesticides, since organic goodies are not so easy and cheap to get. So there it is. First we soak our veg and fruit in 1 litre of water mixed with half glass of vinegar for about 3min. Then we soak them in 1litre of water mixed with two big teaspoons of baking soda for another 3min. After that we just wash them with tap water. It may sound complicated and time consuming at first, but if you make a habit of it, it will become a part of your normal daily routine and you will hardly notice it anymore. It’s really worth it.

Podczas gdy przeszukiwalam internet w poszukiwaniu sokow o roznych wlasciwosciach, natknelam sie na artykol o tym jak oczyscic warzywa i owoce z pestycydow poniewaz organiczne produkty nie sa ani tak dostepne ani tanie. A wiec najpierw nalezy wlozyc je na 3 min do 1l wody zmieszanej z pol szklanki octu a nastepnie wlozyc je ponownie na 3 min do 1l wody zmieszanej z 2 czubatymi lyzcz sody kuchennej. Potem juz tylko pluczemy w normalnej wodzie i gotowe. Za pierwszym razem to moze brzmiec troszke czasochlonne i skomplikowane ale jesli wyrobimy z tego przyzwyczajenie, stanie sie naturalnym punktem naszej codziennej rutyny a na prawde warto  wlozyc troszke wysilku w zdrowie naszej rodziny.

And even juicer box found a new practical use 🙂
