Banoffee pie and a lazy Sunday dinner

I haven’t posted any recipes for ages even though we’ve been very active culinary. Today something very easy, that all my family loves and there are not many meals (even desserts) like that 😉 .

For the first time I heard about banoffee pie 10 years ago, at the beginning of my Irish adventure. My boss came to me all excited and said that she got some banoffee pie for us so we will have a feast. I admitted I had never heard of banoffee pie before. She said it was impossible; banoffee pie was better than sex 😀 . I thought then that poor woman must have really bad sex life to make such statements but I had to admit that the cake was delicious. And even though I’m not a big fan of bananas, everything tastes amazing with such amount of caramel and cream 🙂 .

Przepisow nie bylo tu juz od bardzo dawna choc kulinarnie sie u nas ostatnio dzieje. Dzis cos bardzo prostego co uwielbia cala rodzina a niewiele takich dan (nawet slodkosci) jest 😉 .

O banoffee pie uslyszalam po raz pierwszy prawie 10 lat temu, na poczatku mojej irlandzkiej przygody. Moja owczesna pracodawczyni podeszla wtedy do mnie podekscytowana mowiac, ze przywiozla banoffee pie i zaraz sobie zjemy. Powiedzialam, ze nigdy o takim ciescie nie slyszalam. Na co ona, ze jak to mozliwe; banoffee pie jest lepsze od seksu 😀 . Pomyslalam wtedy, ze biedna kobieta musi miec bardzo nieudane zycie intymne skoro przegrywa ono z ciastem ale przyznac trzeba, ze ciasto jest przepyszne. I choc wielka fanka bananow nie jestem, to jednak w otoczeniu takiej ilosci kremu i karmelu wszystko smakuje przecudnie.

PRZEPIS:                                                                              RECIPE:

250g herbatnikow pelnoziarnistych                                  250g digestive biscuits

100g masla                                                                          100g masla

puszka karmelu (masy kajmakowej)                                 1 can of carmel

3-4 banany                                                                          3-4 bananas

300ml smietanki 36%                                                         300ml double cream

Crush the biscuits, add melted butter and mix. Spread the mixture over the cake tin and press. Cool in the fridge for at least 10 minutes. Spread caramel over the chilled base,cover with banana slices and top up with whipped cream. Decorate with grated chocolate.

Herbatniki zmielic, wymieszac z rozpuszczonym  maslem. Taka masa wylozyc spod blaszki, schlodzic w lodowc przez min. 10 minut. Na spod wylozyc karmel, pokryc pokrojonymi w plastry bananami i pokryc ubita na sztywna smietanka. Posypac starta czekolada.

After weeks of eating pizza, burgers and pecan danishes ( clearly cravings of a pregnant woman), my body has been asking for something green, healthy. That’s why, for a quick, light but filling dinner I made pasta with rocket, sun-dried tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, olive oil, pesto and parmesan cheese. At least my love for italian food hasn’t changed 😉 .

Po tygodniach objadania sie pizza, burgerami i danishami (ciazowe zachcianki), moj organizm domaga sie czegos zdrowego, zielonego. Dlatego na szybka, lekka acz sycaca kolacje zrobilam makaron z rukola, suszonymi pomidorami, pestkami dyni, oliwa. pesto i parmezanem.  Przynajmniej moja milosc do wloskiego jedzenia sie nie zmienila 😉 .
