First year

12 months ago for the first time I looked into his blue, now brown, eyes. 12 months ago for the first time I heard his soft, now loud, cry. At the first sight, touch, smell, I knew, that we’re connected by inextricable thread. From that day on I have been his and he has been mine.

From the moment I heard “it’s a boy”, I had been afraid. Girls’ world is close to my heart, known to me, it is my world. But to raise a man seems incredibly difficult, especially in times, when men wear leggings freely and when every break up story seems to confirm ubiquitous crisis of manhood. Secretly I hope that he’ll grow to be just like his father.

The year has passed so fast but good time always does. And even though most of that time was not caught on photos, I will always remember them.

Misike is the least photographed of our children. But he is also the fastest in everything so far. He started teething, crawling and then walking very early. Today he has eight and half teeth, he has full head of hair, which I cut few times already despite of his strong objections, he is 13 kg and he wears clothes a size above his age. He’s got beautiful dimples in the cheeks when he smiles, and he smiles a lot, especially to his sisters. He loves to draw (on walls), climbing up the stairs, baths and playing in the backyard. He hardly tolerates a pushchair or a car sit, he hates dressing up and body lotions. He’s got amazing appetite, he just wants to try everything we eat.

It’s harder and harder to get anything done with him. As soon as we look away, he pulls down the printer, pulls cables, changes program in a washing machine, puts his hands into a fireplace, draws on walls, empties kitchen cupboards or changes temperature of the oven. Luckily I have two ways with him: “Gummy bear” song and a hoover- his favourite toy.

Odkad uslyszalam slowa “to chlopczyk”, czulam strach. Swiat dziewczyn byl mi bliski, znany, to moj swiat. Ale wychowac mezczyzne wydaje sie potwornie trudne, zwlaszcza w naszych czasach, gdy mezczyzni bez zazenowania nosza legginsy a kazda kolejna historia rozstania zdaje sie potwierdzac wszechobecny kryzys meskosci.

Wczesnie zaczal zabkowac, raczkowac, wreszcie chodzic.
