4 months

It’s got so dusty in here. We haven’t been here since October. And how am I supposed to make up for 4 months of our lives?

It has been mainly quiet time for us, filled up with new year dreams and plans. We’ll have few new challenges but also long summer holidays in Poland.

I have recently turned 35 and girls decorated a birthday cake for me all by themselves. You can’t give a better gift to a confectioner.

The biggest surprise and success of that time has been Rosie’s silver medal in Feile Luimnigh competition.

Najwieksza niespodzianka i sukcesem tego roku byl srebrny medal Rosie w konkursie recytatorskim Feile Luimnigh.

And even three teeth she has lost recently haven’t stopped her from winning.

As parents, we have made a decision of postponing Misike’s start of school until next year. We both feel that Irish custom of sending 4 year-olds to school is premature and we want to give Misike another year before he spends next dozen or so years in school.

Podjelismy decyzje o przesunieciu poczatka edukacji szkolnej Misike na nastepny rok. Oboje czujemy, ze irlandzki zwyczaj posylania czterolatkow do szkoly jest przedwczesny i chcemy podarowac Misike jeszcze ten jeden rok zanim wpadnie w system szkolny na kolejne nascie lat.

A very nice surprise happened to me when I won a book called “15 minute parenthood” by Joanna Fortune on Spirit radio over a week ago. I never win anything (maybe partially because I hardly ever take part in competitions) and yet I was so lucky this time. It made me so happy not only because it’s a book (is there a  better gift?) but also it’s a book on a subject I am keenly interested in.

Mnie spotkala przemila niespodzianka gdy w radiu Spirit Radio wygralam ksiazke “15-to minutowe rodzicielstwo” Joanny Fortune.

The biggest change in our family life was establishing a new family tradition of  monthly   parent-daughter dates.  Every month Misi and I take one of our girls on a date and the next month we switch :-). We set the place and activity with our date partner. We have already been to cinema, Chinese restaurant and the swimming pool and in March Anabel is taking me to roller jam  so I am intensively practicing my limited skills of a beginner roller skater :-).

Najwieksza zmiana w naszym rodzinnym zyciu bylo wprowadzenie nowej tradycji randek. Miejsce i aktywnosc ustalamy z nasza randkowa partnerka.  I tak bylo juz kino, chinska restauracja, basen a w przyszlym miesiacu Anabel zabiera mnie na rolki do Roller Jamu wiec cwicze intensywnie moje ograniczone zdolnosci poczatkujacego lyzworolka 🙂 .

Just our luck/ Pech

IMG_20180203_132152

Sometimes it just happens so that something we considered bad luck turns out to be a blessing. That was the case this time. Between Anabel’s first Holy Communion and foreign holidays, we didn’t plan to go to Poland at all this year. Yet, suddenly, it turned out that Misi had to go to Poland for health reasons (nothing serious, just a tooth) and since tickets were in a very good price, we all went.

Girls missed grandparents so very much and after new year fight with sicknesses I felt worn out and didn’t even make any new year resolutions nor plans, and Misi had period at work. So we all needed a change of air.

Our biggest plan was to go sleighing because our three year old hasn’t seen snow ever, our girls saw it two or three times and we haven’t seen it for a long time ourselves. We loved playing in snow so much that we had to repeat it. It was wonderful and amazing what a healing power the whiteness  of snow has for fried nerves . Even with frozen toes, wet butts and red chicks we couldn’t stop smiling.

The damage is done

Our visit to Poland was filled with visits of friends and family, but besides that, it was a rather calm time for us. Perhaps “calm” is not a right word to use to describe our holiday, or to describe anything related with Misike in that matter. He made sure we were never bored 🙂  . My family is going to remember that visit for a long time.

During those 6 weeks in my family house, he managed to break a glass coffee table, a hoover pipe, a mop, six plates and few glasses, some utensils, my cousin’s car emblem, my nephew’s and his own toys. He kept unplugging tv, modem and other devices on daily basis, he turned on a blander with an open cap with smoothie inside causing unbelievable mess and learned to open front door by standing on stool or toys. We where busy, indeed 😉 .

Luckily, in the mean time, he made everyone love him with his smiles and cuteness.

Hey, that’s my fish!

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

Some of my most beautiful childhood memories are playing board games, cards and dices with my parents. Well, actually, we had only one board game- ludo, but we spent endless hours playing it. And there was only one rule- I had to win or, otherwise, my parents were risking a major tantrum 😀 .

When Misi and I were engaged, we played monopoly, risk or even twister on date nights in. By then I had got over myself and let him win once in a while without a tantrum 😉 .

Today,  there are not many things I collect (except for books and cookie cutters) but our board games collection is steadily growing. They are our favorite way of spending time together. And since auntie Ania’s partner owns a game shop mag planszowy , she is our major supplier 🙂 . Lately, she surprised us with “Hey, that’s my fish!” and immediately it’s become Anabel’s favorite.

You get to build your board by joining hex-shaped ice tiles with fish on them. Then you move your penguins among tiles in straight lines trying to collect as many fishes as possible. Meantime, you try to block other players. Winner is the player with the most fishes. It’s fun and it teaches counting and strategy thinking.

Jedne z najpiekniejszych wspomnien z mojego dziecinstwa to chwile spedzone na grach planszowych, grach w karty i kosci z moimi rodzicami.

Kiedy zareczylismy sie z Misim, podczas randek domowych gralismy w monopol, ryzyko a nawet twistera.

Ostatnio podarowala nam “Hej to moja ryba”, ktora Anabel natychmiast obwiescila swoja ulubiona gra.

Lately

I have this wonderful friend, Ela. We met over facebook and it just clicked between us straight away. I didn’t have Misike yet and she was pregnant with Amelka, buying clothes from me for her not yet born baby. We’ve been friends since and our children love spending time together too. Max always brings some flowers for girls that he had picked himself and girls won’t let him go home without lots of hugs. We meet as often as we can cause it’s so much fun for everyone.

Joys of May

May means not only ideas, trips and changes but also birthday parties. We had b’day parties weekend after weekend and we enjoyed that pace 😉 . We also made the most of annual Riverfest with candy, balloons and mini-planetarium.

Sisters

Even though Amelia is not officially my daughter 😀 , girls are same age, live across from each other, go to one creche together and play and argue like real sisters. That’s why we often laugh that they’re sisters. They’re crazy about each other as you can see below:

Despite of what meteorologists did promise, there’s no sign of snow and weather is as usual rainy and grey. We’re fighting gloominess as we can. Yesterday, after two years break, I went back on Dukan’s diet so I’m staying away from baking until I feel more confident (wish me luck) so no sweets for anyone for now. Instead, we’re trying to have lots of fun and keep ourselves busy so that mommy doesn’t have to much time to get tempted 😉

In disguise

Recently we’ve been a bit sick. Girls got colds , Misi, Rosie and me had eyes infection and looked zombie-ish. Without make-up, with red and swollen eyes I looked so bad that my colleague laughed that I was getting ready for last part of “Twilight” 😉  Anabel had also an accident which ended up in hospital because she jumped on sofa with marker in her mouth and she hurt the back of her throat. So we didn’t spend much time outside and had to get ourselves busy somehow.

Ostatnio troszke chorowalismy. Wiele czasu wiec spedzalismy w domku i musielismy sie czyms zajac.

I am sooooo over the moon with the fact that girls let me read to them more and more. I can’t imagine my life without books and it would be hard for me to accept if girls didn’t like reading. Anabel never let me read to her until now and it feels wonderfull to be able to introduce her to this whole new world 😉

We have a carnival at home nearly every day now. Anabel is going through fascination with masks which I have to make for her. Most of the time she’s a cat.

Niemal codziennie mamy teraz karnawal w domu. Anabel przechodzi fascynacje maskami a ja musze je dla niej tworzyc.  Wiekszosc czasu czasu spedza na byciu kotkiem.

And here with her friend- Amelka. A tu z przyjaciolka- Amelka.

Rosie destroys masks so fast that I gave up making them for her but she loves all sorts of hats and head decorations. She can be rather creative about it and often pulls tights, vests or tops from a dryer and puts on her head. She’s so happy and proud of herself, and totally oblivious to how ridiculous she looks 😀

Formula for fun

Though  weather has gone rebellious, Anabel keeps reminding me that it’s practically summer when her first words in the morning following “Czesc mommy!” are “Ice-cream! Ice-cream!” 😀

Mimo, ze pogoda sie nam zbuntowala, Anabel codzien przypomina mi, ze juz praktycznie lato gdy jej pierwsze poranne slowa po “Czesz mommy!” to “Ice-crea!Ice-cream!” (Lody!Lody!) 😀

Last Tuesday we managed to have a day off together with Misi and so we decided to take girls to Formula for fun which is an indoor playcentre (brilliant idea for not so sunny Ireland 😉 ). This time I took only 4-5 photos because I decided to have some me-time, sip my latte and read “Pani” magazine while kids are getting wild. I grew in pride while ladies at nearby tables kept telling me what amazingly good girls I have (and I silently hoped it wouldn’t give way to some sudden tantrum).

Zrobilam tylko 4-5 fotek i ti telefonem bo postanowilam sama sie rozerwac saczac latte i czytajac magazyn “Pani”, podczas gdy dzieciaki wariowaly obok.

Anabel amazed me also with her bravery. She climbed to the highest slide (ten-odd meters high) and with no hesitation slided down while I followed her not without fear and slowing myself down with legs and hands on the way. That two-and-half-year-old girl is trully fearless. And I just keep wondering if it’s good or bad. 🙂

Rosie spent some time in baby area with balls, swing and slide but most of the time she was happy to seat next to me on sofa and play with her toy. More such days, please!

Oby wiecej takich dni!

Sunny park

It would be a sin not to spend at least one afternoon in the park this week while the sun is still out and shining. I could take girls more often myself but with such a wild 2-year-old I just wouldn’t risk. I would probably end up loosing prom while running after Anabel or loosing Anabel while looking after Rosie. So we only go when daddy is available 😉

Coming from a countryside, I know that the park is merely a poor substitute for nature but you know what they say :”When you don’t have what you like…”.  However it was wonderfull lying on grass surrounded by trees, watching children running arround, blowing bubbles and thinking how lucky I am 🙂

Anabel made me laugh when she found a feather and noticing a flock of doves, decided to give it back to an owner. She run after birds shouting “Chodz!”(come) and “Czekaj!” (wait). She was a bit dissapointed they wouldn’t listen but soon she discovered that chasing birds was a great fun itself.

Anabel rozsmieszala mnie gdy znalazla piorko a zauwazywszy w poblizu sfore golebi, postanowila zwrocic je wlascicielowi.

In the meantine, Rosie was happy to have a ball all to herself.

And her sister’s sunglasses

No i na okulary sloneczne siostry

But it all stopped to matter when she discovered grass and flowers ,which we had to take out of her mouth all the time from then on.

Anabel also made some new friends

Anabel nawiazala takze nowe znajomosci

and took some time alone 😉

i poczula potrzebe samotnosci 😉

What a fun afternoon!

Oby wiecej takich dni!
